The Hilton Garden Inn chain will establish its first property in Visakhapatnam by 2032, a 360-room hotel within the WTC Visakhapatnam development. This joint venture involves BVM Energy and Residency Pvt Ltd, a Kapil Group subsidiary, and forms part of a 10-acre mixed-use complex in the city’s Yendada area. The site will integrate office, retail, and hospitality spaces, reinforcing Visakhapatnam’s position as a growing commercial and business hub.
This initiative reflects Hilton’s broader expansion strategy, which focuses on emerging markets beyond India’s major metropolitan areas. The company has already identified two additional Hilton Garden Inn locations in Andhra Pradesh, one in Tirupati and another in Mantralayam, but the Visakhapatnam project represents its first direct investment in the city. Visakhapatnam’s rising importance in MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions) tourism and its status as an industrial center have drawn international hotel brands seeking to capitalize on the region’s economic momentum.
The WTC Visakhapatnam project, currently under construction, embodies confidence in the city’s economic trajectory. Its phased development, with the hotel scheduled for completion in 2032, aligns with plans for additional commercial and retail infrastructure. The timeline suggests careful coordination to ensure all components of the complex are operational in tandem.
Hilton’s move into Visakhapatnam aligns with a broader industry trend, as mid-tier and upscale hotel chains increasingly target tier-two cities where demand for branded accommodations is climbing. The city’s coastal location, combined with its role as a defense and industrial powerhouse, positions it as a key destination for business travelers and religious tourists alike.
Zubin Saxena, Hilton’s Senior Vice President for South Asia, emphasized that the decision highlights Visakhapatnam’s “long-term potential” as a hospitality destination. Clarence Tan, the company’s Senior Vice President for Asia Pacific Development, added that such markets provide guests with expanded lodging choices in rapidly developing regions. Vaddanapu Krishnaiah, Managing Director of BVM Energy and Residency, stated that Hilton’s involvement will strengthen the city’s growing business ecosystem while ensuring premium hospitality for corporate and leisure visitors.
The development signals a broader transformation in India’s hospitality sector, where international brands are shifting focus toward state capitals and emerging commercial centers rather than relying solely on traditional metro markets. The success of the Visakhapatnam hotel will hinge on continued economic progress and infrastructure improvements in the area, ensuring its alignment with the city’s evolving needs.
